Rumor: Capcom may be working on five new Resident Evil games

Information disclosed by insiders indicates that the survival horror franchise is still a major focus for Capcom

New rumours indicate that Capcom continues to heavily invest in the Resident Evil franchise. According to the rumours, five games from the survival horror franchise are reportedly in development by the publisher, including the 9th title.

The information, disclosed this Saturday by the insider Dusk Golem (via Icon Era), suggests that multiple projects from the series are currently in production. One of them would be Resident Evil 9, which has previously been mentioned as the highest-budget game in the franchise’s history.

Despite Capcom’s efforts, no remake of the series is reportedly planned for the year 2024. While many of these projects may not have release expectation in the coming months, the first title in the lineup could potentially be released between late 2026 and early 2027.

It’s worth reinforcing that the DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake, Seperate Ways, has suggested the development of a potential remake of the 5th game. Meanwhile, Capcom may not be closing the door on investing in the return of Code: Veronica, following fan requests.
