SWITCH 2 MAY HAVE BEEN DELAYED TO 2025 DUE TO STRATEGIC DECICIONS
Apparently, the Switch 2 was set to arrive in 2024 but has been delayed to 2025 to avoid component shortages and to have more exclusive games
We are already accustomed to console lifecycle lasting 5 to 7 years, at most, but the Switch is approaching its 7th anniversary and shows signs of outdated hardware. However, so far, not even a Switch 2 has been announced. However, it seems that plans to lauch the console in 2024 may have been postponed.
According to the Japanease publication Nikkei, the new Nintendo product is expected to continue to be a hybrid between a handheld and a home console, but the release date, initially set for the end of 2024, has been pushed to 2025 due to concerns about component shortages and also to ensure a larger lineup to first-party games on the console.

According to the new report from Nikkei, Nintendo aims to have a smoother launch for the Switch 2, avoiding the stock shortages seen with first model (and more recently, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S due to the pandemic).
This way, the Japanease company would be able to avoid distribution chaos we’ve seen with scalpers in the past, and have more time to ensure that new exclusive (first-party) titles are available at the console’s launch.

Everything indicates that the Switch 2 is expected to arrive around March 2025, but the Nikkei portal suggests that this could change (and be delayed again) if hardware production proves challenging or if there are too few exclusive games for the debut.
It’s important to note that this information is still based on rumors. However, the VGC portal supports the date, stating that they have found similar information from other sources. According to these sources, third-party developers have been informed about the delay of the next-generation console to 2025 (previously set for 2024).
