Without divison of rights, FromSoftware becomes the only owner of Elden Ring
It seems that the collaboration between FromSoftware and Bandai Namco on Elden Ring has come to an end.
According to documents filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the regulatory body of the United States, Kabushiki Kaisha From Software appears as the sole owner associated with the Soulslike genre, as shares by users on resetEra.
This change was made in April 2023 and was not publicly disclosed. So far, there has been no official statement regarding the reason for this change. However, Tencent may be behind this, as the company owns a portion of FromSoftware.

As the sole owner of the IP rights, the Japanease publisher will be able to develop new experiences with the title without needing permission from Bandai. Additionally, there are rumors about a mobile version of Elden Ring in development, something Tecent has not officially confirmed yet.
It’s worth noting that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, wich has been in production for a considerable period, still lacks a release date. However, fans remain hopeful that the new content will be released later this year.
